For one weekend a year gates are unlocked and the public is invited in to discover the beautiful hidden green spaces in London’s Open Garden Squares. The gardens themselves usually offer tours, refreshments and performances. A great event that highlights the rich green framework London is composed of, the money raised during the weekend means that the London Parks and Gardens Trust can continue its work to protect them.

Now, the highlight of the foodie calendar is arguably the Taste of London festival this June held in Regents Park. Every year over 50,000 people flock to the park for a culinary experience like no other. All of London’s best restaurants in one place, demonstrations from world-class chefs, masterclasses and more. Five days of the ultimate summer feast.

Nothing says summer in London like Wimbledon. Whether you choose to go in person or watch on the screens around the city it is not to be missed.

And finally, this list would not be complete without mentioning the Notting Hill Carnival. The carnival has been held for over fifty years and it is the biggest celebration of Caribbean and black diasporic culture in the UK. The Notting Hill carnival is the epitome of London in the summertime. It draws over a million people every year. The streets fill with parades, steel drums and the aroma of Caribbean food. It definitely should be one for the bucket list.

The variety of events and the length of the events themselves means it would be prudent to look into some accommodation for your stay. Obviously, you could go the usual premier inn route but why not upgrade a little? Consider an apartment stay. There are many luxury apartments London rent. Staying in an apartment nearer to the event you are going to is easier for you and the apartments offer privacy and amenities that hotels do not.
